  • Typical adjustment range: about 2 sizes up or down, less for delicate settings or settings with stones down the band.

See below for full details on each situation.

Do you size rings?

Yes and no, it depends on where the ring came from. If it was purchased from Jackson Jewelers, we're always here to help with sizing or any repair. If it wasn't purchased from us, we're generally not able to help with sizing, unless it's a family heirloom, which we take on a case-by-case basis.

Is ring sizing free for rings I purchased from Jackson Jewelers?

Yes. For rings purchased new at Jackson Jewelers, whether in-stock or special order, we resize your ring at no charge within 50 days of confirmed delivery or pickup. After 50 days, we can still resize rings purchased with us, but a fee applies.

How much does ring sizing cost?

Ring sizing typically runs $200–$800, depending on complexity, including band thickness, metal type, and how much metal needs to be added or removed. Half or three-quarter shank replacements cost more, we'll quote those separately.

How long does ring sizing take?

Ring sizing typically takes 3–4 weeks.

What if I'm not sure what size I need?

We're happy to help you find the right fit, preferably before the purchase. Please check our current schedule to come in for a sizing evaluation.

Can I exchange my ring for a different size instead of resizing it?

For rings that were in-stock at the time of purchase and have not been altered from their original state, yes, if exchanging the ring and special-ordering the correct size is a better solution than resizing, we're happy to discuss that option. If we re-order, that purchase becomes a special order and is not exchangeable for a different item after.

What counts as "altered" for an in-stock exchange?

Anything that changes the ring from how it left our case, sizing, engraving, or visible wear and damage from being worn. If we determine the ring has been worn and shows damage or major scratches, we cannot take it back for exchange. If you're considering an exchange, don't wear the ring, and be careful not to scratch it.

Can I exchange or resize a special order or made-to-order ring?

Special order and made-to-order rings are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged for a different size.

If the size provided to Jackson Jewelers at the time of order turns out to be wrong, for example, in the case of a surprise engagement where the ring size was a best guess, we're not able to remake the ring at no charge, since the sizing was based on the information we were given rather than an error on our part. That said, we want to help and will do everything we can to get the ring to the correct size. Since we never measured the wearer's actual finger size and relied on the size you provided, there may be a fee involved in remaking the ring if resizing isn't possible.

Can you size an heirloom ring that has been in our family for generations?

We're a family business, and we love when families pass down heirloom rings, it's part of why we value helping with these pieces, even when they weren't originally purchased with us. We accept heirloom ring sizing on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to discuss your piece before bringing it in. Send us photos through our webchat beforehand, and make sure you receive confirmation before coming in for a sizing appointment. For older heirloom rings, we often recommend half bands or new shanks due to wear. Many times these lead to restorations of the entire ring, which is a service we provide.

How much does it cost to size an heirloom ring?

Heirloom sizing follows the same pricing as our standard ring sizing, whether the piece is a family heirloom or an older Jackson Jewelers purchase, though older or more worn pieces often need a little extra care.

If we notice something else your ring needs while we're working on it, we'll always let you know first. We just ask that any recommended work be done together rather than piecemeal, we want every ring that leaves our shop to be something we're genuinely proud of, and that means not sending it back out the door with a job half finished. It's really about making sure your piece is taken care of the right way, the first time.

Can you size a ring I bought somewhere else?

No, we don't offer sizing services for rings purchased from another retailer, whether online or brick-and-mortar. We recommend going back to the original seller for any service work, unless the piece is an heirloom (see above).

What rings can't be resized?

The following are generally not eligible for resizing:

  • Eternity bands, rings set with stones around the full circumference
  • Rings made from alternative metals (titanium, tantalum, tungsten, or ceramic)

Certain engagement ring and men's wedding band designs may also not be eligible, depending on construction. Our team will confirm eligibility at the time of consultation.

Can I exchange an alternative metal ring instead of resizing it?

Yes. Alternative metal rings purchased from Jackson Jewelers can be exchanged for free within 50 days of purchase. Outside of that window, a fee applies for the time and shipping involved in the exchange, the price is determined at the time of your visit.

How many sizes can a ring be adjusted?

Most rings with no stones or minimal stones set into the band can be adjusted approximately two sizes up or down. Rings with 3/4 eternity or delicate cathedral settings are much trickier and may not be able to be sized that much.

Adjustments beyond what's possible for the design may not be an option, in that case, we may recommend a special order in the correct size instead. If a special order was made in the wrong size due to a customer-provided measurement, there will be a fee to remake the ring if needed.

What happens if my ring is damaged during resizing?

If we resize your ring within our standard 2-size adjustment range and determine we can complete the sizing without damage, but damage occurs anyway, we'll warranty any additional stones or repair needed to restore the ring to like-new condition.

Will you rhodium plate my ring after resizing?

If your ring is white gold, yes, in most cases. Rhodium plating is typically an extra service, but we almost always include it as part of a white gold ring resizing, since the sizing process can disturb the finish. If it's needed, it'll be included, no separate charge for a standard resizing.
