Appraisals at Jackson Jewelers
We provide insurance appraisals for jewelry purchased at Jackson Jewelers, prepared in house by our team.
Quick Guide
- Eligibility: items purchased at Jackson Jewelers only. We are not able to appraise items purchased elsewhere, new, old, or otherwise. For outside items, we recommend Pacific Gem Lab in Portland, 503-274-7022.
- What we appraise: rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants, earrings, and custom pieces designed by Jackson Jewelers. Watch appraisals are limited to Rolex, and only if we sold it.
- Complimentary: items $1,000 and above, when requested within 90 days of purchase. Appraisals are provided on request, we don't prepare them automatically.
- After 90 days: $150 per item, whether it's a value update or a full appraisal.
- Turnaround: 3-4 weeks, the same as our repair timeline. Your piece is left with us for the full process, this isn't a quick counter examination.
- Delivery: emailed to you as a PDF, printed, or both. We'll need your current email, mailing address, and phone number. Your piece is picked up in store when your appraisal is complete.
Do you offer appraisals?
Yes, for jewelry purchased at Jackson Jewelers. Appraisals are provided on request, so just let us know if you need one.
What types of items do you appraise?
We appraise rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants, earrings, and custom pieces designed by Jackson Jewelers, as long as the item was purchased from us.
Do you appraise watches?
Watch appraisals are limited to Rolex, and only if the watch was purchased from Jackson Jewelers. We aren't able to appraise other watch brands, or a Rolex purchased elsewhere. For those, we recommend Pacific Gem Lab in Portland.
Can you appraise an item I bought somewhere else?
At this time, we're not able to appraise items purchased elsewhere, whether new, older, or inherited. Appraisals are reserved for pieces purchased at Jackson Jewelers. For an appraisal on an outside item, we recommend Pacific Gem Lab in Portland.
Since you don't appraise outside items, who do you recommend?
We recommend Pacific Gem Lab, an accredited independent gemological laboratory in Portland and the leading jewelry appraisal firm in Oregon.

Is there anywhere local, closer, or in Salem for an appraisal?
We aren't able to recommend a local appraisal option in Salem or the surrounding area. We highly recommend taking the time to drive to Portland for this service, Pacific Gem Lab is the leader in jewelry appraisal in Oregon and worth the trip. You can call them ahead of time to schedule.
Is my appraisal free?
Appraisals are complimentary on items $1,000 and above when requested within 90 days of purchase. After 90 days, the fee is $150 per item.
How much does an appraisal cost?
$150 per item. This applies to both value updates on pieces already on file and full appraisals. Significantly altered or restored pieces are quoted individually.
I need an updated appraisal for insurance, can you help?
Yes, if we sold you the piece. Updated appraisals are $150 per item. Your piece will need to be left with us for the full 3-4 week appraisal process, this isn't a quick examination at the counter.
Why do I have to leave my piece if you already have it on file?
When we put our name on an appraisal, we have to be able to say we examined the piece in person. That standard matters if your appraisal is ever used in an insurance claim or a legal proceeding, so we don't prepare or update appraisals from file records alone.
How long does an appraisal take?
Typically 3-4 weeks, the same as our repair turnaround.
How will I receive my appraisal?
We can email your appraisal as a PDF, provide a printed copy, or both, whichever you prefer. We'll need your current email address, mailing address, and phone number for the document. In many cases we'll email the appraisal ahead of time, and your piece will be waiting for you to pick up in store.
